So I'm back safe and sound, and it was an amazing trip! And without further ado, here's the first set of photos.....
This one taken on the plane, still sitting on the tarmac at Vancouver airport. It was raining, of course. :)
Followed by sunrise midflight (I couldn't sleep....combination of nerves and an uncomfortable seat...)
It was an evening flight, so with an 8 hour time difference, it was late morning by the time I made it to London. After getting myself settled at the hotel, I dragged my jet lagged self outside to walk around.
This is taken in Russell Square near the hotel:
Spring was blooming in London.
The weather was maybe a little cool, but the sun was shining through.
After some wandering through random streets, I made my way to the British Museum.
It's a very busy place, lots of school kids and tourists.
The next photo is taken after going inside the main entrance shown in the picture above. Lots of light shines through the glass ceiling.
I visited the Assyrian and Egyptian sections of the museum.
It was really interesting...I can't imagine how much work must have gone into making statues and carvings in stones like these!
Unfortunately, I'd only been in the museum about 20 minutes before it was time for it to close....
On the other hand, I had an unobstructed view of the Rosetta Stone, as the security guards were waving everyone out!
I went back the next day to finish my tour of the museum, and the crowd of people around it was massive!
After the museum, looking in a couple of shops, and dinner, I headed back to the hotel to sleep for the next day.
Maybe not the busiest of days, but there's lots more to come.....to be continued!

Fantastic shots, very interesting. I've only been to the airport passing through. All that picture taking has paid off. You are recording some great stuff!
